The original house was built circa 1820. It consisted of a living room, dining room, kitchen and pantry on the first floor; four rooms on the second floor; and two rooms on the third. The center portion was added by Alexander Thompson prior to the Civil War. All of the rooms on the first and second floor had fireplaces with Italian marble. From the eight window cupola you can see the entire farm and the waterfront.
